Phillip Watson

Phillip Watson was born in Lexington, MS, and received his degree in horticulture from MSU in 1976. He was the recipient of their first Distinguished Fellow Award for Horticulture in 2018 and served for three years on the Faculty Advisory Board. He has hosted interns at his West Chester, PA, gardens who are pursuing studies in horticulture.

Mr. Watson's work has been featured in the New York Times, the Times of London, the Washington Post, and numerous magazines and books. He has published two books, Pleasure Gardens and Garden Magic which showcase his designs. The latter will be available for signing (25.). Mr. Watson won the top prize at the New England Flower Show in 1994 for his design for South Africa to signify its transition from apartheid and from President de Klerk to President Mandela. Mr. Watson has also been featured as a designer at the Royal Chelsea Flower in London and at the Philadelphia Flower Show where he is a frequent judge.

For thirty years, Mr. Watson was a fixture on QVC Shopping Network as a garden expert and garden product presenter until retiring last year. His firm, Phillip Watson Designs, provides services that range from pool projects to French-style parterres, and his colorful flower borders have more ingredients than your favorite gumbo! Currently, Mr. Watson is primarily focused on residential project designs in Greenwich, CT. and on completing his autobiography.
